Not sure how to explain this but I want to be able to create a stock from the profile outline of a model. The component I am machining is roughly the 2d size and shape of the model but has a lot of extra 3d shape on it, so that is why I want to create the stock from the model. Hope this makes sense. Any help appreciated.

Depending on what version of edgecam you are using, you should be able to create geometry from the outside shape of the model, then in stocks and fixture it will ask how you wish to create stock.
Select stock from profile, input depth, then select the profile you have created.

Thanks for reply. The version I am using is 2014R2. Do you know if there is a simple way of selecting a silhouette of a model to create the outside profile.
