    Open Pocket

When machining a open pocket. What is a good and easy way to have the endmill work from the outside of the part and or feature and past.

    Please review .jpg image.

    Thank You

A manual containment boundary is how I would do it. I would make a boundary (geometry from edges or edge loop features) and select the entire solid to machine and contain it within that. If pre-ec11 I would then offset some linework to get a good approach.

If you have vs 11, then there is some enhanced boundary controls that would work perfect and you wouldn't have to offset any lines for approach.

I am bad, the new boundary controls aren't available in the roughing cycle. here is an example of doing what you were asking. I would probably rough out the entire part and not jus tthat section but I guess you have your reason.

Inside the zip file is a ppf in EC 10.75 and an EC PartaModeler file
