    Display tolerance not sticking....

    Hi all. New to CNCzone.

I am having trouble getting the display tolerance to stick in 2012 R1 SU2.

I've set and saved default preferences to be used in a new file. I've inserted a solid into a new file. It comes in faceted. I set the display tolerance to something more course - .001 (because the .0001 I want to use is already there, but ignored, or so it seems to me). Click OK. Image regenerates and looks better. Set the display tolerance back to .0001. Click OK. Image regenerates and looks the way I want with round holes. Save the file. Close Edgecam. Re-open Edgecam. Re-open saved file. Opens faceted again.

Are you guys adjusting your display tolerance twice every time you open a file (assuming the faceted holes are displeasing to your eyes)? Please say no.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong, and how to correct it?

    Hi,

always catches me out when I upgrade.

You need to save a new default with the new tolerance, or save the updated user default.

    Cheers

I thought I had done that.

Just in case I messed it up previously, I created yet another new .dft file with a different name and then saved it as the default .dft file to use when a new part file is opened.

    Same faceted results.

If it helps at all....the value ".0001" is in the display tolerance field when the file is created as a new file, or when it is re-opened. The issue I'm experiencing is that I have to regenerate the display to actually have the tolerance applied to the current new, or old, model.

I used this explanation to guide me through the re-set up of my tolerance preferences.

The display tolerance still does not apply itself to new solids being inserted into new .ppf files. After inserting the solid that always comes in faceted, I change the tolerance to anything, just to force the screen image to regenerate. I then change the tolerance back to my preference and the image regenerates again....with smooth curves. If I close Edgecam, and re-open Edgecam, and re-open the file, I have to go through this exercise again to get visually smooth curves.

I know for a fact that Edgecam was originally installed on this computer under a different user's account. Could this be causing some sort of conflict and explain the symptoms I'm having? I do have local Administrator rights, if that matters.

I am planning some hard drive partition and formatting changes to be done in a couple weeks. I think I'll hold off until R2 comes out and then start all over with a fresh install of windows and edgecam. There are a couple other quirks that I've experienced that nobody else seems to have experienced as well. Hoping the format/re-install will solve those too.

Thanks meegers for reading and trying.
