    Angry EDGECAM LATHE THREADING OPERATION

    Hello!

Im operating Edgecam 2010R1, and im having problem with the THREADING OPERATION (CYCLE) for turning. I go to the the OPERATIONS menu, select THREADING and the prompt bar requires me to DIGITISE THE LINE TO THREAD(NEAR START POINT).

This is where my problem starts. I dont know which line to digitise. I take a chance and enlight or enlight the surface where the thread should take place, and im presented a thread operation dialog. I fill the dialog box and when i press Ok at the end, i got an error message saying; DIGITISED SEGMENT IS NOT A VALID DRIVE LINE, and the prompt bar asks me to DIGITISE DRIVE LINE.

So, i would like to be helped to understand, WHAT IS THE DRIVE LINE, and how to digitise it.

    Thanks in advance.

Not having done any work in EdgeCAM for lathework, the following is just a guess based off other software I have used. I am assuming you are working with a solid model. EdgeCAM wants a line and not a surface. You will have to extract/create a line where you want the thread to go and then select that line.

1 Create a new turn feature

2 Select face you wanna thread

    This creates a turn feature
    .
In manufacture mode digitise the line or select it in your
    feature browser

First half of line gives you RH

Last half of line gives you LH
