I Have read the help pages with some clues on how to make a parametric chuck or vice to use as fixtures but i just cant get any kind of good luck with this. I tried steeling a ready made chuck from another to reverse engineer but it lost al parameters on the way. I would like to draw my vice in Solidworks then import it and with some tweeking in part modeler be able to adjust its gap with parameters. but also to draw our chuck for the 4th axis. Does someone have a step by step instruktion that an IDIOT (me) can follow to make this work? It would make my use of edgecam so much less frustration. Thanks |

Thanks for the link it was really good to se some tips and trix. but after going through all i can fint about making geometry I Could not find any information on how to create a parameter and then attach it to a messurement. In some example files i can set parameters on the chuck and the jaws move. I Neeeeed that. |

| I usually have my vices set up in a Solidworks assembly, then I add parallels, parts and stock to be machined in the vices. Then I mate the movable jaw against the stock and use Cad-links to import it to Edgecam. Otherwise I would look into making a PCI. I have never made a PCI myself but perhaps it's possible to automate something like this: YouTube- Fixação com Edgecam Parte 1And ask the user for variables for the positioning of the movable jaw before the start of the PCI. If the vice is already ready and made then perhaps you could make a PCI that translates the movable jaw the same way? |

I Still found no tutorial for part modeler about making parametric models. You wrote that you imports assemblies into edge, i can only read in solid part files, any tricks except "save assembly as part"? this breaks the link and makes it hard to update the model later. But for now, until middle of august i left Sweden to lay in the sun in Croatia. |

| I usually use edgecam links inside solidworks. This opens up the assembly and gives the option to make changes in solid later on and just update. But as everyone else (it seems) I sometimes have problems getting the link to work. If that happens i save the assembly as a parasolid binary (i think it's called that). This seems to be what edgecam links does "behind the scenes". The file suffix for this file type is filename.x_b. Then you open this in edgecam and if you make changes later on, you just save it to the same name again and edgecam should notice that changes have been made and will ask if you want to update.
