Mazak 1550 Post Problems

Hi guys
I am having loads of problems with a post for a Mazak Integrex e 1550-VII - ( 5 Axis Turn Mill Machining Centre)

The post has not been setup correctly at all and am now having major problems when posting a program from EdgeCam....

1, I am machining a ellipse using Xc interpolation the machine c axis (the pallet) is juddering slightly when it turns....i tried changing the amount of decimal places that X & C kicks out and lowering the tolerance to .01mm in Edgcam but there is still slight twitching when the c axis is rotating... any ideas on what to try please?

2, When tool one is complete I tool change to a chamfer tool just to do a simple profile around the ellipse but the tool goes into the job and in the wrong position... I checked the code edgcam kicks out and after the tool change for some reason it moves c to 'c24.00 c9999.999' on the same line it does this a few times... I can get around this by starting a new sequence and doing a single profile then cut and pasting the two programs together...(Tool 1 & Tool 2) so for some reason it only happens after a tool change....

I tried switching to rotary mode and turning Xc interpolation on and also moving X Y Z C to a known position before I start the profiling op with Tool 2 but no success it still kicks out crazy 'C' figures for no reason.....

any help would be great thanks in advance

Lee

Hi Lee,
These are sophisticated machine tools, and the post is similar sophisticated. Have you contacted your reseller regarding this? They should be able to help, either internally or by involving someone that can.

I'm located in the US, and have built similar posts for my customers. The Code Wizard is a great tool and the templates are very good. It is possible to develop a very reliable post.

Best regards,
Joe

Hi Joe

I have been in touch with our reseller and they have since solved the problem with the crazy 'C' value by altering the post, we are sorting out the problems as we go along now. As it's a new machine to us and a new post we are constantly getting small problems when posting but we will get there in the end i'm sure.

I have had a play about with the code wizard but only to alter easy things with the machines it will be a while before I am up to speed knowing my way around....

Thanks

Lee
