Default Stepper motordriving fouth axis with xyz driven by Kanalog

Have mill working with xyz Servos with glass scale differential feedback run using of KFLOP and Kanalog. Very nice.
Have 4th axis from another project with motor driver and power supply. Might also wish two further motors (steppers too) for other puposes.

What KFLOP connections are the best for added step/direction output (Maximum 3 steppers) given the fact that some JP5 is in use and needs to stay that way; I gather that no pins on the KANALOG would do.

    Thanks in advance

    Owen

    Hi Owen,

It seems you need 6 Step/Dir outputs?

JP5 has 4 and you can use 1 from JP4 (the one of two that is open collector capable) and 1 from JP6 (the one of two that is open collector capable).

That should provide 6 open collector capable for you.

Oka..ay but if KANALOG is connected and used for three servos doing xyz and xyz position feedback from glass scales isnt jp5 necessary for the KANALOG KFLOP connection? It is connected right now.
Am I really missing some thing obvious?

    Owen

    Hi Owen,

What kind of drives to you have currently connected and how are they connected?

You can remove the KFLOP JP5 connection and you will only lose 8 of 16 differential inputs on Kanalog (JP2).

xyz glentek servos and amps with a+a- b+b- glassscale input (6 inputs)
4th axis stepper existing is intended fifth to be built with steppers
nice motorize knee at some point stepper (+/-glass scale)
Spindle input vial Halleffect and differential input (2inputs)

    Hi Owen,

I assume the Glentek are Analog Servos?

It seems you will have 5 differential encoders in all (10 differential inputs)?

It seems you will need 2 Step/Dir outputs?

If so, you might use the 2 Step/Dir Open Collector Outputs available on KFLOP JP4 and JP6 (1 each) and leave JP5 connected to Kanalog.
