Hi Clayton,
Halt should bring the system to a controlled stop along the path without loss of position.

Is there a way to stop a file that is running so that you can change a setting without losing your 0,0,0?
I was running a new file that was lettering parts with a vee bit. A few seconds into the file I realized the lettering should have been deeper. (.01 instead of .001) I let the file complete because I wasn't sure that I could get back to 0,0,0 if I pushed HALT button.
Thank-you!!

I understand the halt part but Is it possible to stop or restart the program from line 1 after you press halt? So far I have just pushed halt and the pressed it again to let the program finish.
I am sorry for the simple questions but I realize from your answer to my other question that maybe the way I have been setting my position to ZERO might be the cause of these problems.
Thank-you!!
Hi Clayton,
Yes you can Restart the Program after Halting. But it depends on what your program does at the beginning. Does it first move up to a safe height then over to the starting xy position. If it simply plunges to the start of the first cut then it would be a disaster if you started with the tool in the middle of the part. Its up to you to understand what your program does and where it expects thing to be to get started.

I don't think I have asked my question correctly.
Once I have pushed halt can I terminate the rest of a program?
After hitting halt I would like to abort the rest of the program, return to my starting position so that after making changes I can start the program from line 1.
For example:
1. Halt
2. Raise my Z-Axis out of the part by typing something like this: G0 Z6
3. Return to X and Y zero. (starting position) G0 X0 Y0
When I push STOP I get the result that I want but I lose my position so I am unable return to my starting position. (This might because of the way I was running my machine that you just solved or am I correct that STOP is an emergency only button?) The halt button seems to work like a pause button. Can I activate any functions once I have halted?
Thank-you!!

p.s. Tom your customer service is the best I have ever experienced in any field. Thank-you!!
After pressing halt you can just press the restart button. This will rewind the g-code to the beginning and cancel out of halt. The button is located above the g-code window where you open programs.(Between "save as" and "single step")

Thank-you!! I guess I should play with these settings with some scrap material. Both times it happened was with a new piece of material and I was afraid to push anything else.
