What is it they say about the best laid plans . . . ?

I haven't had the time to work on my other sculptures.
My wife and I are still trying to get our new house built.
And in the meantime, I'm STILL living 3.5 hours from my studio (and my Dynatorch). Trying to get our current house ready to sell. And we've got our first child due any day now!!

But a buddy of mine needed something made, and I figured I could bang it out in a week if I busted my behind.

This friend of mine owns a Marble Slab Creamery.
And he needed a mobile cart to take one of the refrigerated slab units to catering/off-site events.

After the initial design work, a little cutting.

Then the fab work:

It didn't really need fully-welded seams, but . . . I spent a few hours doing that. But I was having some problems with my torch--my liner must be going bad, because the wire was binding in there. It's always something.

Here's a pic of the weld "stitches." As y'all know, you have to do short @ 1 inch welds and then move to another area to avoid putting too much heat into one spot.

Then a support and a bottom plate for a tray. This is intended to hold a pan for collecting condensation from the unit's drain hose.

Since then, I brought the cart back home to Georgia, spent a few hours grinding the seams flush. I added body filler across those areas (though it wasn't really necessary).

Tomorrow morning, I'll spend some time sanding that down. Then it'll be up to my buddy to get it painted.

Unfortunately, he'll probably rattle-can it.

Anyone else got some pics to post?

RAW,

Nice work. I like the ice cream cone design. Do you have any pics of the finished cart?
