    Chris,

I would highly suggest your contacting Hypertherm and let them recommend the size electrode and tip.

Their tech support is 1st class and they enjoy talking to the end-user.

Good luck with the 1250, you'll enjoy it!

    cstroke,

I'm running a Powermax 1000 and use Hypertherms Finecut consumables for 11 gauge and thinner. I use 40 amp shielded nozzles for 1/8" to 5/16". For everything over 5/16" I use a 60 amp shielded nozzle. The back of your owners manual contains cutting charts. These charts include nozzle type, feedrate, current(amps), and arc voltage. They'll get you close. Tweak from there.

    Jcar,

    cstroke,
I am using fine cut tips as well, but can use them on up to 1/8" steel. I use the fine cuts for detail and on the larger parts(size wise less detail) I use 60 amp tips from 1/8" to 3/8" steel.
There is a settings post on previous threads, you can print that out and they are pretty much spot on.

Don't know if this is the best place, but . . . here is where I ordered my fine-cut kit.
