Morvaman,
I know Bend Tech software is popular with the tube bending guys. I looked at the video for sheet metal bending. The 3d sure helps you visualize the finished part. It looks very useful and the price is reasonable. Thanks for the link.

No problem joe. This feature of the program caught my attention.> Path Text: Quickly and easily convert text into lines and/or cutting paths. Select the properties and the location of the text and the software will generate the lines representing the text. You may also add bridging to the letters with a single click.
Enter the text you wish to convert to lines and adjust the properties of the text; such as bold, italic, and letter-spacing. The software can use just about any TrueType font on your system and you may select the desired shape of the text. After specifying these settings, simply click to place the new text. Select the Bridge function to add bridging to each letter, by specifying the size of the bridge and placement angle. Bridging allows letters with enclosed cutouts to retain the cutouts, such as the letter B. Easily and quickly add custom bridging to the text.

morvaman,

That looks like good software. I have seen parts made with the tube software at a cnc formers by us.

The features you mention are available in cuttingshop (part of the we-cim package). It will convert any text on your system (straight line or on a curve) into polylines and then bridge the dropouts with just a click. The big feature though is the weld tool. It will merge your text onto whatever other part of your drawing you want.

I made the clock dxf in just a few minutes. it was a free/share file from plasmaspider and I added the text and the mount on the back.
