Hello fellow Dynapath users. I have a dynapath delta40,50,60 controller for my 3 axis mill. My 2 com ports are toast, therefore I communicate via the good old 3.5 floppy. The controller absorbs only 10,000 lines at a time so I break up the code in several pieces for upload. But I can upload only 186608 characters before the memory is full. That's about 28,000 lines worth of code. Mastercam art is generating easy 60,000 lines + even playing with filters. I'm sure when I know more what I'm doing with art I'll have programs that will be ginormous. Can the memory be increased ,like a bigger hard drive or something? A new motherboard is $1200.00 and I've just been mugged by santa and mastercam. If I have to change the board I would be able to communicate with a pc. Can drip feeding be done at this point? And if so how does drip feeding work? The code would have to be erased as it was uploaded so as not to fill the memory or the controller reads directly from pc? For the last 2 years I steadily am finding out how little I know.....It suck,s being a noob. |

| you should be able to drip feed from the floppy drive, check your dnc options in the control been so long since i ran one of those but should be able to ,you will still be limited by the floppy size, maybe you can convert the floppy drive to USB cheaper than the mother board something to check on,ive seen them for sale, maybe on ebay, not sure, good luck |

| If the 40/50/60 control can drip feed (the feature on a DynaPath is called Buffered Input), you can specify the input come from not only the COM port, but also the floppy or the optional hard drive. Enter the part title 'RS232C' into the Catalog mode and exit back to the Mode Select screen. If your Mode 3-Program mode has disappeared, you've got the feature. Set up to receive by going into Mode 8 and selecting the floppy (or hard drive) as your source device. Use the soft key 'Source Parameters' (or something like that) to select the appropriate file from the 3.5" floppy, just as you would if you were loading the file to the catalog. Go to Mode 1-Auto and press the Cycle Start button and you should start running your program from the floppy. |

| It works! ![]() Thank you guys,I was getting depressed over this problem. I spoke to the Dynapath people this morning about a new motherboard and dnc drip feeding. They strongly recommend not to drip feed with dnc because of hardware and windows stability.Funny they mentioned that,as I got to writing the third sentence of this message my pc crashed for no reason apparent? I wonder what happens if it crashes while outputting to the controller?Must be why they are weary of dnc from a pc. They are currently working on a SD card interface witch should be about 2 gigs.in size and will bolt right in the same place as the hard drive presently in the controller.Should be out for 2010 sometime. At least now I can use my new toy! Thank you all again,I love the zone. Have a wonderful holiday. Claude |

Hello again, Drip feeding from the floppy works great, but my code is huge with mastercam art.I've been told that it is possible to load a broken up program to the hard drive via the floppy and then combining back into one single program again using DOS. The problem is that I haven't a clue about using DOS let alone starting up the dynapath 40,50,60 controller in DOS mode? By the way, to exit the rs232c mode one must type P1 in catalog mode and press enter as the delete soft key disappears when in rs232c mode.Had to call Dynapath about that one. It's the little things.... |
