I have a delta 20 with cimco dnc and I am good with drip feeding but if I don't pause at 1500 lines it has a buff overload error. I reconfigured everything to use Hardware for flow control (think it should be software but it just sits there waiting for the controller to send signal) but I have many choices for the ASCII character. Any idea what it should use? Thanks for any help!

This is what I have at the controller ![]() This is what I have at the PC ![]() Dunno it is correct to the letter of the law, but both file transfer and drip feeding work fine. Seems I may have had the same problem until I checked the "RTS/CTS" box at the PC end. Longest program so far is about 6000 lines and had no problems.

paynebros - Fighter's reply makes sense. If you select 'Control Characters Off' in the Load mode of the DynaPath, the CNC will control part program flow into the memory using the CTS (or Clear To Send) hardware line. A matching selection must be made on the computer side, so it knows whether to look for a hardwire line going up or down (CTS, in this case) or whether it should look for software characters (X ON = start transmission, XOFF = stop transmission). Because today's operating systems have altered the way serial port communication are handled, using software characters for flow control has become a problem. It is easier to set up communications using hardware flow control because the hardware lines are more likely to control the physical port (the actual IC chip), without interference from the operating system or drivers.
