    Delta 20 positioning

Wrote and ran a program on our Clausing Delta 20 mill. Ran fine. Was writing another program and went to test and the z axis takes off in the + direction causing a fault. Loaded previous program and get the same issue. Powered down machine, reset cards, etc. Same issue, z axis moves + til it faults. Machine references zeros and homes properly. Any ideas? Just got the machine about 6 months ago so just a Delta beginner.
    Thanks,
    H

    Delta 20 position

Played with a program just to linear move the z axis. Start mach. Reference axis. Home axis. All work fine. Set my Z zero at -2.00" (actual Position)
    program linear move
    Z-.5" F5
    Z .5" F5
    Z 0.0 F5

Used mode select 2 Single Event and 1st move Z travels up in + direction until it faults on high limit.
    Rewrote program to start
Z +.5" F5 and using Single Event, same thing. Z travels up until it faults.

The readout on the screen is indicating the + movement.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    all axis moving

Powered down and ref, home, and zero'd axis all worked fine.
    wrote program
    N10 TEST
    N11 Linear move X +1.000 F5
    N12 Y -1.000 F5
    N13 Z -.5000 F5

Tried single event and when it got to LINE N10 X+1 and pushed cycle start, all three axis started moving in + direction.

the DRO on screen show all 3 axis moving in + direction simultaniously
Below the position dro there is a Distance to Go and they all read
    X+#00.0000
    Y+#00.0000
    Z+#00.0000

the mach ran in all + directions until the first limit switch was hit. Way past X +1.000
    any ideas?
    Thanks

    Delta 20 position

Are you remembering to start the program with M function EXX for fixture offset and TXX for the tool offset? (XX being your fixture and tool number)

I have 6 DynaPath controllers from Delta 20's 30's 40's and a 50, both mill and lathe. Sometimes they do act up. But it's been my experience that I simple goofed. Example: When writing a program offline and running it from a floppy drive.... Make sure there are no spacebar keyed in at the end of line code. You cant see them but the controller can and it will fault.

    Delta 20

I have not used the position offsets and checked the tool table - position and they are all set to zero. I have used the tool table for one program, the others I just tailor the program to the one tool I was using. All 3 of the programs I have written are from the control panel only, no offline yet. My machine has limit switches installed that are used for the Ref X Y Z. Ref X = 24.5; Ref Y=13.3; and Ref Z=-.5
Machine operates in manual jog just fine. I would like to agree, it is something that I screwed up somewhere. What does the Machine Zero do if the mach has the Ref function? The manual says the Mach Zero is not used if you have the Ref. Could have the Mach Zero been set and over ride the Ref data? The DRO indicates everything fine. When running the program its like it has to go find itself before it starts.

I have two of these machines. When I turned the other one on to try it, I got a Ram error then the screen started scrolling. It was running fine last time I used it also. I am going to re-seat all the cards on it this morning.
Thanks for the reply Dale, I appreciate it.

    Machine zero

Reset all boards, ref mach and jogged to close to 0,0,0
No Y 0 limit switch and X 0 limit switch is actually at 2.00" but does not stop machine.
Checked Mach Zero and it highlighted and the screen read Machine Zero locked out by parameter.

Will try a program with the M codes Exx and Txx and see what happens.

Reset boards on other machine and now there is Ram error and check sum error. I should have stayed at deer camp.......

    Success?

    Thank you Dale!
Added E01 T01 to start of the program.
Ran Test program and it worked fine.
Ran previous program and it ran fine.
I have never used the Exx command in a program before, but whether it was Dale's suggestion on the Exx command, resetting the boards, or just the way it goes. It works! Thank You!
