    Dyna HF-3016 General Q's

I am looking at a Dyna HF-3016 (internet sale, havent seen it up close). The knee mill I use now I have set up with Mach-2. The Dyna 4M sure looks like a Mach based control, is this the case? If so I like that. Can it load programs through a USB port?

Is this machine using stepper motors?

    Thanks for any input

The HF-3016 uses the same PC based control as Dyna's other 4M controlled machines. It has nothing in common with the Mach control. All 4M controlled machines use servos.

The availability of a USB port will depend on the year the machine was built. The control has a PC at its heart which may or may not have USB capability. Early 4M controls ran MS-DOS 6 and used Pentium CPUs with a whopping 16MB RAM making it difficult to add a USB port. Some customers replaced the PC with something more powerful and ran Windows. Later 4M controls have limited ethernet capability.
