Hello, I am looking at a 4400M (servo) thats been converted to run with Mach3. Its in good shape, low hours, with some tooling, but money is tight... Also, the tool changer doesn't currently work with Mach3 (Can this be done?) I understand its hard without pics and more info but what would be a fair range for this machine? Thank You for your time, Bill |

| Congrats Bill. Welcome to the DM4400 owners group. ![]() I'm sure that there will be lots of questions along with the usual number of 'why did this happen?' statments. Not to worry. We'll be glad to help. So first thing, steppers and not servos? Not to worry, the steppers work quite well, especially when driven with Gecko's. Not the fastest (96ipm) but its only a 14in x 10in table so its not going far. Second thing, when you get it home, remove the rear way cover and check the carriage lube line. If thats OK, your well on your way. I've been running mine with original steppers and a Gecko G540 for three years now. Lots of fun. Lots of chips too. Timothy

| What kind of vises are you planning to use or have you bought some already? The reason I ask is that I have two sine keys for import 6in CNC vises to fit the DM4000/4400 table. Yours for free if you can use them. I switched to Kurt vises so I had to make new ones. Timothy

| Thank You 2ferrous At this time I don't have a Machinist vise. Its on the list. I have a RF31 that I converted to CNC using Parker E-AC drives and steppers. But I wanted a Real CNC Machine. However, I know I will take you up on the advice offer. Like the 3 loose wires comming from the spindle and where they go, lol. Buts thats a question after I get it home with pics and more info. Thanks again for your comments and your time. |

I am looking at a Dyna DM2800. Any idea what these machines may be worth. It has some tooling and the 4th axis? Thanks, Iron-Man |

| Iron-Man Well this is the million dollar question. After doing a quick google search, they go from $1 http://www.cnczone.com/forums/little...2800_mill.html to $10,500 Milling Machine: Dyna Metronics DM2800 CNC Benchtop MIll I know this is no help , but 1: What can you afford ? 2: What can you sell it for? 3: Whats it really worth to you? and (for me) 4: Whats the Wife going to say??? Use the internet to get some values. For my situation I couldn't pass it up. After building a Home made machine. (sucked) Then a Chinese machine (RF31) (less suck) I now have my (first) DREAM of a real CNC machine! Next is a Hoss VMC CNC! Men must have dreams... Anyone looking for a low mileage RF31 with new ball screws, shoot me a PM. (sorry I scraped the home made machine) Good Luck, Bill |

| On the Dyna 4400M, how does one shift from low spindle speed to high spindle speed? I am led to believe this has a two speed spindle. The original controller, power electronics etc. have all been replaced. The answer on how to change the spindle from low to high would need to be answered from the perspective of what solenoid do I energize or what cylinder do I pressurize? Does this machine have sealed spindle bearings or do I need to make sure an external pump of some kind is hooked up and working? thanks, Pete |

| Dyna DM4400M is Mitsubishi control with servos for axes. Dyna DM4400 uses Dyna's SKIP control with steppers on the axes. DM4400Ms have single range spindle pulleys with 10K max rpm. Some DM4400s have step pulleys for the spindle. Thus, to change between low and high, the side cover must be removed, motor bolts loosened, belt changed to other grooves, re-tension belt, tighten motor bolts, re-install side cover. Nothing automatic about it unfortunately. With regard to what a machine is worth, it is up to the buyer to decide based on the intended use of the machine. Hobbyists have different budgets and needs than someone who intends to make a living using the machine. |

| Hi, pgurendema The spindle has to be changed manually with the spindle stopped as far as I know. As I haven't gotten the machine home I can't say for sure about the bearings, but I believe they are sealed. Looks like we are going to be fixing these together. On the positive side, I have lots manuals and electronic diagrams (E paper size electrical, etc) that I will to be sharing on this machine, as the College where I'm getting this from saved almost everything. Look for my Dyna 4400 build thread in the next few days. Bill |
