Its the end of the day and I'm homing the machine and the X axis faults out and triggers the alarm. I think, no big deal and reset the machine and re-home. Same thing happens. Now I'm thinking that the limit switch is dirty and needs cleaning. So I remove the cover and use my finger to activate the switch and it works fine....? I reset the machine again and re-home. The switch doesn't even make it to the stop before the machine trips out. I remove the rear table cover and its jammed full of aluminum chips. It appears that the chips got caught in the physical limit stops and faulted the X axis before the home switch could be triggered. That would explain my creeping home position too.... So for you DM4000/4400 owners out there. You might want to take a look under the rear covers once in awhile just to make sure everything is clear. I'm going to design a better front and rear Y axis way cover to try to eliminate this problem. Timothy |

| It happened to me on one of my 3000Hs. It wouldn't home, so I took off one of the covers. It had a bunch of chips there. Cleaned them out. Better, but still wouldn't home consistantly. I sprayed some penetrating oil on the plunger and cleaned with a q-tip. It removed some gunked oil. Then it homed OK. Tom |
