Hello Grifftek
I'm interested in the electronic cards of your Dyna Myte 2800. Please send me an email to supertronicsa (@) gmail.com
thanks
I have 5 custom made cnc machined motor mounts for the dyna 2400 as well as 4 couplings and new 23 frame steppers. I believe these will fit the lathe also but never tried the on a lathe. Cleaning out the shop have tons of stuff for retrofits if anyone is looking for anything i can be reached at five 62 three o six 83 eight five cell or text
Also have all electronics except the spindle drive from a 2800. All was working except the spindle drive when disassembled

I know this is an old thread but do you still have the mounts and couplers? We spoke before and at the time you weren't sure if you still had them.
PM with details if you still have. Any chance you still have 100 tooth drive gears for original configuration on 2400? Thanks
Grifftek,
I love your mounts. I wonder if you would share how you approached connecting to the lead screws while still retaining the end play adjustment? Also, how powerful of steppers did you find adequate?
Thanks

Hi
I ended up selling the 4 mounts I had to someone else through this listing. the price was 350.00
I havent been able to find my original files but I did get the dimensions from one of the machines that I had installed them on.
here is a link to the machines I have retrofit. one of them actually came back last year and I updated it with the centroid acor control.

this is the 2400 that was converted to Acorn CNC

i'm not sure which stepper I used, but just about any modern square 23 frame stepper will be more powerful than the dyna motors were.
I sold all of my new old stock and surplus stuff to a guy up in oregon. he still has a lot of it if there is something you need i can put you in touch with him. but the prices I see on www.stepperonline.com are so low, its not worth the trouble of a phone call!
recently I sold a couple of Falken mills to a friend who dabbles with these small machines. I helped him out a couple days ago and machined up a motor mount plate to adapt steppers to the machine. we are going to make a couple of longer mounts as well to move the motors to make the machine shorter and shallower front to back. here are a couple links if you want to check them out:

Are you familiar with the Acorn CNC control?
let me know if I can help further or be an inspiration for you to finish your machine.
feel free to contact me through email as I don't check this site very often and just happened across the email from the site because I was looking for an old email.

Bill, thanks for the collection of photos.
The use of the coupling is the missing key that I was looking for. Since the lead screw (2.5mm) gives close to .100"/rev (.0984"), a 200 step motor will give less than .0005" and that should allow for direct drive with a 300-400 oz/in stepper. I had considered using a belt for reduction and packaging, but I see no need now.
I'll see what I can find for suitable couplings and go from there.
For now, I haven't found an acceptable way to protect the screws from swarf. Tried a number of bellows from other industries, and using toy slinkys with cloth covering, but they have not worked for me. Until I find a better answer, I'm going to run them open and keep them clean as I can. Not worth holding up the project any longer.

Its not cool to Highjack threads.
The PM request was just 3 days ago and the thread was dead for 2 1/2 years until I just started it again when you jumped in. But whatever.
