longhand cycles in post

Is it possible in the Dolphin postprocessor to have it post drilling, boring and tapping longhand instead of using cycles such as g81 g84 g85 ect?

Yes, it's possible and quite easy.

In CAM select Edit from the top menu, then choose Post-processor, the current post will open, if this isn't the one you want then use File > Open and select the required post.

When you have the correct post, scroll down to the section CYCLES, here you find the cycles that can be used, cycles can be be CANNED, CALL or EXPAND.

CANNED is used for drilling cycles such as G81, G83 etc
CALL is used for complex cycles such as G71 / G72 in turning
EXPAND is exactly that - expanded into individual movements.

To change a drill cycle simple replace the word CANNED with EXPAND.

Note the word MUST BE IN UPPERCASE.

Then use File > Save As and give this modified post a new name so that the original is not overwritten and available in it's original format.

Please note :- when modifiying a post-processor, the syntax and format is crucial - always keep the orginial post, don't overwrite them, we cannot be responsible for posts that customers have modified and introduced errors into.

Last thing, when you come to use the post it will create a .ppx file if required, if you see this message just OK it.

Hope this is clear

Andre
