I want to do exactly what is shown in the Command gallary for Face Off--to make a step. But I don't see how to keep Face Off from doing what it says; facing off the entire surface. What am I missing? Thanks, Chris

| Chris, Two ways to do it, one is to define your step in CAD, give it a contour name and use this when you go into the face mill box. Second way is to define the boundaries of the step using the XY coordinates, again in the face mill box. Ignore the total size of material if you are nor performing any face operations on the whole face. If you want to face the top and the step you do two separate operations. Remember to take the cutter diameter into account when facing so you don't finish up with an uncut radius on the step. You have to overlap by at least 1/2 the cutter diameter. John S. |
