| These are 2 different animals here. Your also speaking about a $15,000.00 price difference. If you have more than 10K to spend, buy Gibbs. I use dolphin for my own use and couldn't be happier. Dolphin will not bring in 2008 solidworks file direct though. Not sure if gibbs cam or not. |

| What version of Dolphin CAM are you considering and what type of work are you planning to use it for? I have use Gibbs in the past (Version 2006). I like it a lot for solid machining. However, if your only doing 2D work and your just a hobbyist, Partmaster 3 will probably work just fine. It reasonably price, and fairly easy to use. If your going to use the 3D Dolphin CAM, it will probably work just fine, but you pay for what you get. I watch the tutorial for the 3D Dolphin CAM and tough it looked a lot harder to use vs. Gibbs. Dolphin CAM has a lot of extra steps involved for selecting and creating the tool path vs. Gibbs. I also like to think Gibbs has a better tool path engine than Dolphin CAM. I also know Gibbs accepts lot more CAD file types vs Dolphin CAM. However if Dolphin CAM accepts the files your working with, this should not be a problem. I would like to think Dolphin CAM has just as good or maybe even a little better Tec. support though. That's my two cents. glovebox20 |
