I'm trying to send a file to our 2 axis Prototrak MX2 controlled mill using DolphinCam. We don't have the required RS232 cable to hand so we need to use a floppy disk. The file has been outputed using the relevant post processer, and is saved on to disk. (It's saved as "123") When we try to load it to the controller we get a floppy drive error. Any suggestions or remedies? |

| Update. I've tried accessing a floppy disk which contains programs for the MX2 on the PC. The file extension is .MX2. We can open them using notepad to view the G code. I have tried copying one of the files and pasting my post processed program over the existing G code with it being saved as "123.MX2". We can now see the program on the Prototrak in the program list, but when we try to open it there is nothing there. I hope this all makes sense, as my descriptions can be a bit rubbish at times. |

| Hello Lugy, The MX2/3 controllers can load different program types, .MX2 are programs created on the controller in "MX2" format. A Gcode file has to have the extension .CAM You can do either of the following, when you post-process in PartMaster, set the extension to .CAM - you will find this on the dialogue where you choose the post name. Or, rename the file on the floppy disk, the best method is to set the extension type within PartMaster, Windows often screws up when you try to change the file extensions. When you want to load the file into the MX2, choose the option - which if I can recall is something like "Retrieve CAM" - this then lists the files with extension .CAM Choose the file and it should load, after it has loaded the MX2 will convert the Gcode program into native .MX2 format that uses "Events" Hope this helps ATB Andre |

| On my Protrak I have to call it a six digit number eg: 123456.CAM. I then Retreive Cam on the Program In/Out screen. Don't know if the six digit thing is necessary, but it can't hurt!
