The first seat to Dolphin I bought mid winter and installed it in the household computer. I learned how it worked and generated G-code. As the program was in the house, and the shop's computer out in the shop, I was copying the G-code at the bottom of Partmaster CAM to Word Pad, and saving as DOS based text. I then saved it to a thumb drive and took the drive out to the shop.
The Shop's computer has a Freeware copy of NetLite DNC for transfering files. The files would transfer okay, but when I ran them, any move besides drill cycles made crop circles. Got to be Post Process differences right? So I dug deep into the ways of the Post Process with the PP manual, and learned some neat things. When I had time inbetween the drama events here, I'd heat the garage, try a change and after a few hours, give up in frustration. Except for learning how the post processor works, I got nowhere.
With warm enough weather here, and heating the shop doesn't kill me, I bought a second (and third) seat. One for my laptop, and one for the shop's compiuter. After getting it set up on my Laptop, I started a systematical and methodical process of step by step to see when and where the Post process glitch was making crop circles. This time I used mylaptop which had the Partmaster COMM included.
Striaght lines, check. Box, check circle with lead in/out check... (huh? check?) Everything to that point checked out. I figured I'd throw it a curve and do a hyploid where the arcs go CCW to CW and back again around about. IT WORKED! With cutter comp no less. Okay, I loaded the hair pulling program from last winter that had so many crop circles I was ready to take a hammer to the computer,and... it went through it FLAWLESSLY.
I have no idea why the G-code that is spit out at the bottom of the Partmaster CAM screen wasn't working when saved as DOS text and uploaded through NetLite DNC. To think of all the time I lost fighting this issue is appalling, but the problem wasn't in Dolphin at all. I'm bald now. Time for a multi-colored wig.
Now all I need is to find out why my license went wonkers after following the web free set up procedure and I'll be on cloud nine.
