deleting line between points

Hey all,
I'm a newbie to Dolphin cad and have a question. How do I delete a line between points? In my drawing, I want to delete the line between the arrows. At each point is a little red point when I turn on "Near Point" in the VIEW menu. I looked through the tutorials and I either missed how to do this or it did not show it. Whenever I try to delete the line, the program wants to delete the whole line and not just the line from the point to point.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
From the .bmp you provided it looks like the line may not be seen by Dolphin as intersecting with the arc. I think the easiest thing to do in this case is to use the 'Intersect' button (1st button right side of NC button) Then along the left side menu the second, third and 4th buttons from the top on the right side of the menu select how the intersected point will be clipped(Clip items,Clip first, and Split items) depending on which one you select it will clip the lines differently. Otherwise normally I would just select Edit from the top menu and then select Delete Item, and proceed to click on the line or other item you want to delete. This line will probably be deleted all the way to the corner but it is easy to redraw it from the corner to the arc with the Snap near selected(button with blue arrow pointing to a crosshatch). I hope this helps you.
Regards,

Hi Mike,
I did not think to mention you can use the 'Intersect' option from the top menu to create an intersection point where the arc meets the line and then the Delete Item option will let you delete the section on either side of the intersection point. This may be the easiest option in this case. Sorry I did not think of it in the first reply. You can use this option to clean up the other lines if they are similar.
Regards.

Hmmmm....I tried this....it is still deleting the whole line. I "fixed" one of my problems by using your first solution earlier this week. I figure there has to be a way to tell Dolphin to just delete a certain length of line with out redrawing it. When I click on the intersect option and then click on my drawing where I want the points, sometimes it puts the point where I click but more often than not, it will place it further away from the cursor.

I was going to upload my drawing, but the forum does not support the native .dra of Dolphin cad. Odd....
Mike

Hi Mike,
When you use the intersect option you may have to select the snap option 'None' button above the 'Snap Near' button. This way it will be wherever you place it and not snape to the nearest point. Yes I was going to say if you can send it to me I can probably fix it and document what i do to fix it so you will be able to go thru the steps. Not sure if I will have time to do it tonight now though but can work on it tomorrow when I get home around 12 pm. Can send it to my email to me if this sounds like a good idea:

Hi Mike,
You might try exporting the file in the .dxf format, maybe that will work on the forum.

Here is a practice file in dxf format. I am trying to delete the line between the half round items on each end. I got the lines deleted between the half circles on top by deleting the whole line and then snapping a new one in. The bottom, I got deleted by using the intersect button, but by the time I got done, I had a whole bunch of new little points in the drawing. I see on the bottom right one that the arc on the left side does not touch the line. I know there is a way to fix that too.

There are 3 points on the line between the arc (top, center, bottom of arc). There should be SOMEWAY to delete the line between the points without redrawing everything.

If you turn the points on, you will see all the additional points that got added on the bottom row of arcs.

Thanks for the help.
Mike
