    File Types

I purchased the CAD/CAM Level II a while back and havn't had my mill up and running to try things out. Well the Control box is about done. So I wanted to move some motors and what not.

I also purchased Alibre Standard and have succesfully made several parts. I tried to open them in the CAM and NOTHING. The file types are not recognized.

    So the real question is:

What file types are supported in Level II?

How can I get the parts I've already drawn into the CAM?

I've tried a couple of time messing with the CAD and I don't get it. Could be me though.

Did you purchase Partmaster Level 2 or 3D Cam Level 2?

Partmaster Level 2 is 2 & 2.5D programiing. It can not do 3D work. You can save your Alibre files as a .DXF and import them that way.

If you have 3D CAM, you can import many files.
DXF, IGES, STEP, Rhino 3DM and a few others.

Dolphin is currently developing the new 3D CAD/CAM that will support pretty much all file types.

Has this been helpful? Let me know!

    Thanks

    rodneydeeeee,

Thanks for the info. I purchased the Partmaster level 2.

Alibre, I didn't see the option for Saving or Exporting the files as a DXF. I'll have to look again.

next question would be how much to get the 3D package.

3D CAM Level 1 would be the best route for you.

On Dooflin you'd expect the the DXF file option to be under ALT FILE SAVEAS, but it aint, it's under ALT FILE EXPORT.

    Hope this helps!
