how do i have to setup my tool for this. it says my settings are incorrect. and when i do set them up and do lets just say a 3" square, it assigns the tool path to the center of the tool. i have a .25" dia 90 degree pointed chamfering tool and it is leaving a crazy burr from the point. is there a way to offset this so it is say .020" - .030" away from the center point of the tool? thanks |

| well since no reply, i found a way to cheat it to make it work. i just made the tool .030 and had it cutter comp on the left or right depending on which way it was cammed, and then set my z to my liking of the finished part. wo0t |

| Tx, be careful about programming the cutter size too small. The tool is weak, has very little clearance and the surface speed is very low. This is what I do: For a .500" cutter, I program the size to .400" or so, then set the depth to .230". That will leave a .030" chamfer on a 45 degree cutter with a sharp point. (.400/2 = .200 + .030 = .230) If you use a spot drill for chamfering, subtract .020"-.030" from the total depth because they are not ground to a sharp point. |
