Rodney,
I am looking for a CAM only package right now. I am already a Mach 3 user and want to stick with it. I design parts on Pro/E so I am not at all interested in getting CAD software, I only need CAM for G code and machining.
Thanks,
Mark
Has anyone seen the intregation Dolphin and Mach had in the past? Dolphin is talking about intregating a new edition of the software that intregates Mach and Dolphin together to make the process very smooth. Just want to hear some feedback if anyone would be interested in this?

Mark,
Just recieved your recent post. We have 3 levels, Level 1 Level 2 and Level 3. What specifically are you looking for in a program? That will help me better determine which you need. You can import dxf files into any of the 3, so that will square you away in means of using Pro E for your CAD.
Rodney,
What I would really like is to be able to import stl or stp files (3d), and be able to generate tool paths and code from there. Right now I am using Freemill, but it doens't have enough flexibility on more complicated parts. For simple parts, it's great.
Thanks,
Mark
Well I guess my next question is... is there a certain budget you need to be in. If you are looking to do very complex 3D work and import Step files or STL, you will need to look at our 3D CAM Level 1. It's strictly CAM, which you are looking for and has several different toolpath options, waterline, etc...
The more seamless a company can make it from CAD to Code is a winner in everyones' book. I've seen the Dolphin / Mach version before. Unfortunately, I don't think it recieved much advertisement.
So, if the Mach version of Dolphin eliminates steps, that's a thumbs up.
Direction, Commitment, Follow Through
This exactley my requirement, taking .stl files and producing the g code. I get a.n.other to do the drawing bit (in p engineer as it happens) and outputs a file for me (I have not tried to do a .dxf as a 2d entity). I have not yet fully tried freemill but so far it looks ok except there is no roughing stage and I haven't yet actually cut anything.....but it looks like I will need something a little more sophisticated but the price is a factor this being a hobby type thing.
