I was kinda pissed to find out that when our internet went down for a couple of days, I was not able to use Dolphin Cad. What happens if Dolphin goes out of business? Does that mean that all it's customers will be SOL ? Once we pay for this product, we should not be tethered to you !! |

Why complain? Some people inlcuding myself have really been helped by it. About a year or so ago I lost my activation code and didn't have any chance of finding it for my new PC I had to transfer it to. Thankfully, they kept my code on file and sent it back. If you plan to use it without internet, it's not like you cant. Just buy a dongle. I bought a dongle for the sole reason I do a bit of traveling.

A dongle?? How much is that ?? This is not a multi million dollar CNC business I have, it's a hobby machine in my garage. After my last post I did a bit of reading from other posters, and it seems like you're the only one that's happy about this setup. If a dongle is needed to run this program, then one should have been supplied to me at the time of my purchase. Is that too much too ask?

Well it sure should have been made clear. Personally I'll probably never have a decent system as I won't pay real money for something that requires a dongle or an internet connection to run. I understand the piracy concerns but for me my concerns of spending money on something that is designed to be hard to use it my point of view. Here in the USA there are multiple bills being proposed to allow the president to "Turn Off the internet" Then where would one be....

No its not that I am the only one happy about it. I just appreciate what Dolphin has done for me as a 1 man wrecking crew that I am. I do infact dislike the licensing procedure (copyminder) and I have expressed my opinion in the past. But I simply bellied up and bought a dongle. I do see the advantage of copyminder though. If a PC crashes, you lose your license, etc, you can always reuse the same code. Try doing this with a few other cad-cam software systems. They make you buy a another full license at FULL cost.

I don't know what type of work you do, Danno, but if they fit your needs you'll find the licensing for Vectric products to be much more flexible. You can install their software on as many computers as you like, provided that only one of them is in use at a time. No dongles, no machine-specific locks.

He is clearly looking for help with a product he already owns. I'm pretty sure if he wanted to look at another product, he'd be doing that. Not really a need for anyone to go into any other forums and start pushing products. ![]() Danno I am not sure what a dongle costs. I bought one when they were running a little sale last year.
