Need help importing dxf files from Illustrator CS4

I am trying to import a dxf file from Illustrator CS4 into Dolphin Cad.
Not all the lines show up because it contains NURBS.

According to the Dolphin FAQ:
If it reports NURBS then you will have to either convert them to Lines & Arcs before exporting or choose export as Release 12 DXF, this should output Lines and Arcs.

My question is, how do I convert to Lines and Arcs in Illustrator CS4 before exporting? I have attached the .dxf file I am referring to.

There are some DXF exporting options, but nothing for Release 12.

Thank you all in advance.

Buy me a Beer?

Try this. In AutoCAD, I had to first explode the object before saving as v12.

You might want to try A9 converter. www.A9tech.com

Ger,
Thanks for the suggestion. I initially checked out the application you suggested. However, I'm not that technically incline to understand what it does for me in Illustrator.

I'm sure I can figure it out in time.

Did you use A9 Converter with the file you attached? I can open it with no problem in Dolphin.

Thanks again,

Rod

Export the .dxf from Illustrator. Use A9 converter to convert it to an older format .dxf.

No, I used AutoCAD to modify it and save as v12 .dxf

Gerry,
You are the man!
Wow,
It can't be that simple.
A9 Converter, converters dxf files to older versions like v12. Which in turn exports as the files as lines and arcs.

This v12 files opens normally in Dolphin Cad.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like we're having similar troubles.....

I work in Illustrator CS4 as well. A friend of mine does the machining end and I am doing the design end. There are a few issues we have as far as cross platform communication. He's on a PC and I'm on Mac. I save my files as Illy 8s and he opens them fine on MasterCam. When he needs to make corrections or redraw some of my stuff to fit his processes, we get stuck. I can redraw my stuff to match what he has on his machine but it ends up a slow process as we have to meet up and discuss what will work in the cabinet, what the tools are capable of, and where I can improve on my design. It would be a lot simpler to just be able for him to adjust some files and email them back, where I can then open the dxf and redraw or make suggestions. This would ultimately save tons of time and improve our designs. I haven't been able to open the dxf's. Is there an option in Illustrator that I'm missing, or maybe an application that allows free communication between the cad programs and Illustrator CS4? This seems like the right post to jump into.....
