    Default Need a braking resistor?

I'm building a CNC system for a RF45 clone (Opti BF 46). About a year ago, I bought a 3 axis system from DMM; Dyn3 drives and 750 W DST servos. I'm finally finding time to start building the system. Should I buy a braking resistor for each drive? I'm guessing it's probably overkill, but is there any downside to adding them?

    Thanks,
    -Steve

I'm curious myself. Also not sure if the Filter is needed on the l1/l2 lines

I think someone is giving you some bad information, a Braking Resistor, would not be needed for a machine like this, or even one twice the size, it is only used for very high speed, with high inertia, if everything is sized correctly, even on large machines it is not necessary for a Braking Resistor for the Servo Drives

Now for a Spindle Motor it can be good to have a Braking Resistor, for your VFD Drive if you are doing rigid tapping, or want to stop quickly

    EMF Filter is needed
