Russ, I generally wear a hearing protector (earmuff-style) when running the Proxxon auxiliary spindle on my Tormach. It screams at 20krpm.

Currently I only own dremel that came to me from somewhere...
I'm new proud owner of Widgitmasters Mini-Router, and looking for spindle for it.. But have one condition, it needs to be quite. I live in apartment, so it got to be "ok" with neighbors.
Could anyone offer some advice on which one would be least loud? I've seen the wolfgang spindle, but not sure if I'm excited of only one collet option. Proxxon looks nice as it has multiple collets.
Custom build is option as well, just not sure if that would make it quite enough.
Thanks for your advice,
P.S. I think I will have to build a sound box for it(was planing on building plexiglass box for chip reasons)
Thanks again, Russ

The Trend T4 has been praised for its, quality, power and noise levels. It seems to have a nice balance between power and size. Eventually, I'm going to get one. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0070921x00003a
But no matter what router you get, the cutting noises is far worse. I'd look to a noise proof enclosure before getting a quieter spindle. Do get a better spindle than a drimmel though![]()
