    Blacktoe insprired

    Howdy!

After building my controller and testing my motors (everything seems to work), I've started the physical build of my CNC.

This build is inspired by Patrick Hood's design, I made a slight design change by adding a torsion box below the gantry as well as my X screw running under the gantry (vs the Pat's design).

I'm building v1 by hand (as you can see in the pics - pretty sloppy), then that machine will reman my sloppy hand built parts.

Here is the result of yesterday's labour:

Salut, That look like good up to now, did you buy your controller or you design your own? And wich motor did you use for your cnc? Good evening.

    Salut Louis

I bought my controller and motors from hobbycnc.com, I wanted to minimize the hassle factor on my first build.

For my next build, I might try to build my own and maybe pass along the whole first machine to my dad or brother.

can someone tell me how tight do you have the chain on your chain drive cnc. i build my now but it's build out of steel. it's seems to be moving a little rough on my y ( 8foot side) but my x is great.

I have mine about the same tension as a bike chain, or perhaps a little bit looser. You do not want alot of sag as this would give you backlash on direction changes but you do not want it so tight that the motors have to work too hard. If you are getting a grinding sound check to see if the sprockets are aligned properly.

Hope this helped, PM me or take a look at my thread (MDF 5x9 router table) to see pictures that might give you an idea on the tension.
