    Rail supports

I'm looking for ideas to secure my 1" solid steel rods to my 80/20 1530.
I thought about taking the rods into work and have the shop drill and counter sink some holes every 6" anong the length of the rods so I can secure them to the 1530 using the 1530 as supports. Has anyone else done this? any pictures of other people using 1530 to secure the rails?
Oh I think I should add that I'm going to use skate bearings and aluminum angle as the slides.

    Thanks again

My Thomson rail bearings are continuously supported. The bigger 1" one is supported by a trapezoidal rail with a 1/4" NC bolt threaded into the rail every 6". The part of the support rail that is against the bearing rail is actually triangular in shape, so the rail is centered. Part LSR-20PD.

The smaller 0.75" rail are support by an aluminum T extrusion with bolts every 4"

I thought about it at first, but I am using open aluminium case units and the rods should be higher for clearance, so I bought some extruded support units. Since you are using standard skate bearing + angle combo, methinks it's a good solution. BTW, how hard is it to drill and tap those steel rods?

You would be better off using thompson rod and linear bearings which can be had pre drilled and use their continuous rail supports or better still look for some used rails and bearings on ebay.
