Which parallel cable for G540? Standard or IEEE?

The title says it all. I'm assuming I need a two-male parallel cable because my motherboard and G540 are both females. However, I am unsure whether I should go with standard or IEEE compatible cable.

Straight through.... so how is it different from let's say a regular one:

"http://www.amazon.com/DB25-Male-Parallel-Transfer-Cable/dp/B000HDL0O0/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1238469670&sr=1-17"]Amazon.com: DB25 Male / DB25 Male, 15C, Parallel Data Transfer Cable, 10 ft: Your Store

    or this regular one:

"http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F3D508-10-Parallel-Transfer-Cable/dp/B00000J1UP/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1238469670&sr=1-24"]Amazon.com: Belkin F3D508-10 Parallel File Transfer Cable: Your Store

    or this IEEE:

    "http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-06104-IEEE-1284-Parallel/dp/B000056SQR/ref=sr_1_42?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1238469825&sr=1-42"]Amazon.com: Cables To Go - 06104 - 10ft IEEE-1284 DB25 M/M Parallel Cable: Your Store

NONE of the above! You want 6 ft or less. Like the one at the bottom of this page:

Your prob right but i was under the impression that max safe lenght was around 10-12ft. I have even heard up to 30'

    Example>> http://www.connectworld.net/cable-length.html

    Parallel Cables Length Limits

Older style Centronics parallel cables, can rarely be more than 15 feet long and still operate correctly, and 9 to 12 feet is a safer limit. The IEEE-1284 can go up to 30feet in length.

Sorry bk i guess stay under 6'

CR why is this?? just due to the high pulse per second rate?

Ive been testing mine with a 10', but just on the desk. Should i expect problems at the cnc?

Yep! Much over 6 ft can cause crosstalk problems.

I take it you would recommend me cutting mine down to 6' or less?

Hey--It MIGHT work--If you already HAVE it--Try it! But if you start having problems that's the first thing to change.

Well, just to be 100,000,000,000% safe, I'll go with CR's recommendation and go with Keling's parallel cable.... after all, they know what's up and I got the motors from them. Thank you fellas.

They have some nice Home/limit switches, helical couplers and E stop switch also.
