    Is this practical?

Is it practical to take a 3/16inch thickness piece of acrylic and use a cnc router to engrave a depth of about half of that(3/32nds) up to 90 square inches at a time?

What are you engraving? Practical is hard to say without knowing what the design your cutting is. Are you removing all the 90 sq. inches or is some left uncut? What is the size of tool you want to use? How fast can your machine cut? How are you holding the part to the table? Or do you just want to know if the acrylic will hold up?
Answering these questions will help people be able to give you the right answer.

You need to define practical. You want to basically route out a 90sq in pocket? Sure, easy to do.
