New man on the block

O.K. here we go I have been hanging around here for awhile and now it is time to get going, I would like to build a setup with aprox, a 24 X48X 4-Z , machine I have scrounged up enough linear slide for the X, Y, & Z axis, now I really could use some of the important help with what I need to drive this thing, I would like to use aluminum ext. for the frame, and gantry, possibly use acme screw to move the carrige or a rack, the machine would be used for wood and plastic.
A set of some sort of plans, some info on the electric end of things, and the best software, IS ALL I NEED-ha not too much to ask.
Any help and direction is appreciated

Sounds like a Joe2006 is what you need....cuts wood and plastic easily at 60-80 ipm
You won't need the linear slides.

If you go with a Hobby CNC kit the controller gets real easy.

Software you will need is Mach3, some CAD (lots of free versions) and a CAM package..

Cheap one is SheetCam.. http://sheetcam.com/ but vcarve is what I use most now.. http://www.vectric.com/

I will check into it seems like a waste for the linear rails to go by the wayside oh well I will just archive them
