    Couple Beginner questions

Table is going to be 2x3
    Cost aside
Would it be better to build a table out of stock wood, mdf, or hdpe?

    Also

I plan on using 1/2 10 acme single start rods to begin with until I get the hang of things

If I want lower backlash and improve reliablity/accuracy (want to make circuit boards) is it better to go with a higher thread count and keep the motor speed the same (slower rapids I belive the term is)
Or is it better to use a multistart rod or just keep the single start?
This is ofcourse still using a backlash nut system until I learn the ropes and upgrade.

From what I've been gathering using a multi start rod will allow you to keep your motor in its optimum torque range while improving speed.. I was wondering if this had an affect on backlash?

Anyother tips appriciated, I've been trolling the forums but I find the search feature horrible and the posts start last page to first so its annoying :P

    Thank you for your time,

    Derek L

If you are a registered user, click on the User CP link at the top of the page. Click on Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> Thread Display Mode -> and change the mode to Linear - Newest First.

In short, the stiffer the material the better. Multi-start is better. Anti-backlash nuts are better. Smaller machines are usually needed for cutting high accuracy circuit boards.
