    Gearing....or, maybe not.

    Hi VSNT,

a belt/pulley setup may not be the answer to your problem...

For a more accurate answer before you start throwing money at your machine, listing your current setup would help greatly.

    PSU voltage & amperage?
    Motor config (Uni-polar, Bi-polar, series/parallel) ?
    Motor voltage ?
Motor torque (Oz/In or Nm) ?
Driver config (Amperage settings, Full/Half/Micro-stepping...) ?
Leadscrew type & pitch (ACME, allthread US/Metric etc) ?
Software setup (Mach, TurboCNC etc. motor tuning settings) ?

All of these factors need to be taken into consideration to get the most out of your machine. Maybe your current settings are not optimized at the moment and this is what is producing low speeds.

I am by no means the right person to offer you advice, as I'm still wearing my L-Plates, but the above info is necessary for those experienced members on the forum, in order for you to tune your machine to it's fullest capacity.

    HTH,
    Mick

How do you have them wired (bipolar or series?) What voltage are you running them at? For best performance, those motors should be run Bipolar parallel at 70-80V. You'd need better drives for that though.

So your "steps per" in Quantum motor tuning is 16000?

Did you try half or 1/4 stepping? You'd go faster..

My screw is 1/2-10 acme...I use Geckos at 1/10 step.
Just for comparison, My Velocity is 125 and accel is 30. I can go
    90 IPM easy.

Just noticed you said you're using the Keling 4030 drivers and
you'd upped the voltage to 55??

    It says they're for 24-40VDC.

    Maybe I'm missing something?

started at 24 and they barely moved so slowly but surely the voltage has crept up to 55, looking at the drivers they should be able to handle 80 reliably but the motors would cook.
