Motor selection

Hi all.
I am wondering if the motors one chooses for the project must be all the same for the 3 axis.
Is there chance to use different motor for the Z axis ?

I have seen machines on here that use different steppers/servos.

I would imagine that it would be best to use either all steppers or all servos though.

I don't see a problem with using different motors, and sizes for different axis', as long as the axis is engeneered for that motor, and the software is told the specifics for each.
