I'm getting the dreaded "This page cannot be displayed" message. Can you post some details about this rod?

Are we looking at the same thing, these are $7.00 each I don't think that is expensive in anyone's pocket book.

EDIT:
Woops, mis-read your post, I agree, that is about as reasonable as one could expect , about 40% off.
Doesn't look like actual ACME rod. Looks like just all thread.
It is listed as ACME, my best guess is they use a stock photo not necessarluy of the exact item.

Gentlemen:
As a possible source of Acme threaded rod AND nuts, try Green Bay Manufacturing Co., Two Rivers, WI 920-793-2411.
Regards,
Jack C.
I use this exact stuff (408-0200) 1/2-10 in my machine. Bought several 6' lengths when they had an even cheaper special to make another order worthwhile.
Stuff was well packed and all lengths were straight. I use two bearings spaced at each end and one at the nut at 600rpm without vibration or runout. Had it up to 1200 but that's a bit much for the mdf and cheap bearings.
It is Acme, a pricy Acme AB nut from elsewhere fit without problem. To the limited abilities of both me and my machine its consistant across length too. I'm 0.02 out across the diagonals of a 12" square.
The rod works well with a delrin nut apparently and after reasonable use there's still no backlash or decernable wear on the delrin nut. I even used an old kitchen cutting board befre the delrin and that was ok too so if there was any sharp irregularity it would have shown up there I think.
It's pretty hard too by the 'cut a bit off and grind it down to make a tap' test... took ages even with a bench grinder.
It's oil finish so I exected it to rust but it hasn't so far. A squirt of WD40 does double duty. Does have an oil coating out of the packaging which should get washed off before use because it held any cutting debris on the screw.
Oh, Yeah, the plain acme nuts they also sell ( I paid 99c) are pretty rough and only have about three and a half turns in them. OK for locking nuts maybe but that's all.
So, Precision rolled stainless it's not, but for me its fine, better than all thread and the price is better still.
can you post your AB nut?(picture)

I've bought it in the 3' lengths, and the 99 cent nuts as well. If you use the nuts you have to use 2 and come up with a antibacklash arangement. I think there might be a cottage industry if somebody who made a tap for Delrin, made some nuts and sold them. For cheap machines this rod and some delrin nuts could be a defacto standard for MDF machines.
ezland00, for the AB nut here's the link;

part number HB22SN-50101AB. I do not use it because I only have the one and it needs a 15/16-16 threaded flange to mount it. Planned into the next machine though.
They where selling for about $42.00 I think, a bit steep for a piece of acetel. I found one unused for $5 in the box at SkyCraft Surplus in Orlando Fl. A great place if anyone's in the area.
guess what? I'm also living in orlando, can you tell me the location? thanksOriginally posted by fyffe555
