    Potential long axis roller...

    http://service.4casters.com/CatalogP...V/Default.aspx

Just saw this and thought it might be workable if not this very thing something along the same lines maybe smaller. Not sure if anyone has gone this route before.

took a look. Not that I know much but with a heavy gantry it might have possibility. Downside as shown it raises the gantry and doesnt constrain the gantry vertically.

A dual setup set on its side with a diamond shaped rail makes sense to me. Smaller might be better.

These are a good choice for v-bearings:

I don't see that as being very good. Probably not that great a bearing and the size of the V would be big needing a big square steel runner or something that would not have a lot of weld area since the V of the circle is pretty wide..

The vgrove bearings with the double row ball bearing supports are better for this type a thing (and what my gantry uses to..)

Becides 34 bucks each would add up quicker then the around 20 each for the larger v bearings.

Did I say everyone rush out and get these they are just what you need? Nope! Did I say this exact configuration was the ticket to success? Nope! Did I say hey all you folks building MDF routers or little PCB board cutters you need to use these big castors? Nope!

All I was doing was posting something that looked interesting and could likely be used depending on what your trying to achieve for a long axis. See thats what forums do they exchange information what each individual does with it is up to them. If everyone was reluctant to post any ideas because people who have nothing to say such as yourself just ask if they are for "reall," wouldn't be much of a forum would it?

I see you just made your 3rd post so your now 2 out of 3 on posts that have no relevance to anything other than your own opinion. To which you don't even begin to explain in reference to your cynical posts as to why you think what you do. Don't ask if someone is for real just for posting a thread, especially if you can't back up your statement with something useful or at least informative. Something tells me this concept eludes you however.

    Cheers,

It is too bad that some ideas get stuffed like this. Here is another site that has a v-grove wheel. I like these because they are metal and may hold up better in tougher situations. Keep thinking outside the box. Thats how we got CNC in the first place.
