    It's done (and it works!)

I finished my machine last weekend. I bought plans for the 7th from John Crank Organ..
I modified it quite a bit. It's now 40X12X3 capacity.
I used 3/8-16 all thread, and lots of polypropylene.
The controller is a Piker board from John, that I assembled.
300 watt computer power supply, and some steppers from Ebay.

All I can say is OMG! This has got to be the coolest thing I ever did! It's awesome!

I had some buddies in the workshop tonite, and you should have seen their faces when the thing was running!

I have to say that John was a ton of help. I probably could have built one without the plans or his help, but it would have taken far longer.

Eric (balsaman) has been a great source of information, as I have been following his work for the past year or so.

If anyone is thinking about building a CNC machine, I say just do it! The feeling you get watching it go (or watching others reactions) is priceless!

I expect to learn a ton more from this forum, so thanks in advance...

    Joe,
Ain't it great! You really accomplish something cool and blow your buddies minds as a bonus. Makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside don't it. I still remember when I ran my router for the first time. Good job! Ron

    I know how your feel!
.....'just got my shoptask 3 in 1 machine up and running with xyz servos. I just stood there watching in amazement(hypnotized) as the machine traversed its axes over and over and over while I kept pressing restart for the g-code in Mach2! It was so smooth and quiet with nice little reversing sounds.
