If your cutting sheet material, this is the best type of setup. http://www.k2cnc.com/Mount_Hood_PC690.asp

Ok I am looking in to building a dust collection system for my router and all the styles I have used im not to fond of. I have looked at getting Loc-Lines Dust collection hose and having 2 of those pointed at the bit as if something goes really wrong they just move out of the way when bumped and they can be positioned where needed. So what I would like to know/see is what everyone else has come up with, or do you just plain old let the dust fly.

Yeah I agree with you there but the down fall of that one is it needs to be on the surface of the material and as soon as you go over the ege of the material you loose all suction with that one I would almost rather follow the cutter with a shop vac. That hood is very simple has anyone made a custome one to fit what there doing with there machine? Do you think if would help to split it in to two hoses and have one on either side?
Good dust collection at a machine is all about volume, not suction. In fact the brush skirt isn't there to contain suction, but to contain flying chips. Air passes pretty freely through the skirt.Originally Posted by automizer
I'm doing something like this, but I don't like the side-by-side configuration. I want to use 4" hose (for that air volume thing) and it would limit travel on my machine if set up like this. I'm making a dust shoe that will pass under the gantry. We'll see how it progresses.

DO SOMETHING, EVEN IF IT'S WRONG!
please keep us posted on what you come up with I have some sort of idea on what you mean but I would like to see this.
Any progress on the "shoe" that can be posted here?
...also just wondering if you have some pictures.
