Exclamation need Help with Home-switches, cant get 'reset' off

first of all i had set up my home switches like this:

X and Y home -> microswitches: contact = no pulse / no contact = pulse
Z home -> contact plate: no contact = no pulse / contact = pulse

but being 2 different 'modes' Mach 3 didnt home the Z correctly, he just recognised this as 'reset' and not as 'home'

now i thought if i use the same 'mode' for all swithes, being no contact = no pulse / contact = pulse, i could solve the problem...

so the Z-home stays the same but i've switched the wires on the microswitches so they gave the same pulse method as the Z-home, being no contact = no pulse / contact = pulse.

but now mach 3 can't stop 'resetting' :S
the reset keeps blinking and if i change the settings (tweeking with the 'active low' setting) ,i can get the reset to stop blinking but then my home switches dont give any pulse.

hope someone understands what i mean :P

long story short: i just want to know how to set up mach 3 correctly with all switches being: no contact = no pulse / contact = pulse.
i thought this would be simple...

    I don't have a running Mach3 system.
But I think that your configuration is not complete. Mach 3 needs to know which switches are used for LIMIT and which switches are used for HOME. Each axis needs its own INPUT, as I understand it.

The Mach 3 manual has these sections for further info, 4.5, 5.3.2 and 5.6.1.
Perhaps you didn't do section 5.3.2 correctly?

Try switching the active low check box in the homing and limits for each switch.

Watch the Homing and limit video on mach3's website.

the active high or low on or off does nothing.

i'll try to explain a little better

in the atachments you can see how my mach 3 is set up for now with my breakout board.
i thought everything would be set right now but still nothing happens, the reset keept blinking and mach 3 says "external E-Stop requested" while the e-stop switch is turned off!

also all home switches are turned off as you can see in de drawing i made...

The wiring diagrams I have seen appear opposite to how you do it.
For example, the limit, home, and E-stop switches are normally closed during normal operation, while yours are open. When any switch is activated it opens. You are doing the opposite.

Does your BOB manual show a sample wiring diagram? I didn't recognize your BOB.

maybe i didn't understand the "active low" setting correctly.
what i thought was that if you use a switch like e that does not give a signal when off and needs to be pushed 'on' to give the signal that then i needed to uncheck the "active low" box. but are you saying i need to check this box when using switches like me?

Correct. Normally the e-stop is wired normally closed and the circuit is opened when pressing the switch. Being yours is opposite click the active low for the estop and it should correct your estop issue.

The normally closed switches scheme has the advantage of telling you that an open circuit just happened. It identifies a limit switch that opened for some reason (possibly an unreliable switch contact), or that a wire just broke from flexing too many times, or snagged on something and broke.

Active low means that a signal pin gets connected to ground reference for the circuit. It goes from a logic high (1) to a logic low (0).

Normally closed is more popular, but normally open works if you configure Mach3 for it.
