    Need help on build

Going to start a new build and need some help. So much infor on this site but cann't find some of what I need. It's not a big router 24 X 50. It is going to be able to cut flat and going to have a 4th axis build in it to do a spindel with a tapper something like a Router Lathe are like the Legacy. Would the long axis have to have a motor one on both sides are would one do it, the y axis would only be about a 24" cut. I have full support rails for both axis and have a welded stell base-table I had setting around so not much flex from the frame. Thanks

Whether or not you need to drive both sides of your X-axis will depend on how stable and strong your machine is and also what you intend to cut. If you're talking balsa wood or if you plan to cut hard woods or aluminum... Remember, your design will impact all the other choices you have to make...

Agree. There are quite a few machines that have 24" Y travel, with one drive screw, and can do hardwoods and some soft metals cutting. A lot will depend on the type of linear bearings used and the overall width between bearings as well.

I'm going to use Rack and Pinion, and Mach 3 also a 8" K2 Z axis.

Using one motor on each side is by far the easiest method with rack and pinion. The alternative is to use a drive shaft to connect the two pinions to one motor.
