    Best CNC Design

    Hi,
I am new to this forem. I would like to purchase a cnc for making signs and small metal parts. I have been doing a lot of online research and reading. I may have to make a DIY CNC machine to make the price reasonable. I would like to have a machine in the range of 24" x 36" or 24" x 48".

I looked at a Romaxx CNC and I liked it, but the final cost may be close to $6000.00.

I am looking for input as to which design you think is the best. I have downloaded plans for a Solsylva and have seen a lot of talk about Joes and Rockcliff designs.

I live in an area with alot of humidity and I worry about biulding anything out of MDF. I would be willing to spend a little more for aluminum, if someone has a good plan.

I am hesitant to spend $100.00 just to review Joe's plans.

Any input and past experience would be appreciated.

It all comes down to budget. You could probably build a Solsylva, including electronics, for about $700. The CNCRP probably would cost you about $2000. The software could be the killer, depending on what you want/need to do.
