Quiet and air filtered mill enclosure solution?

Anyone build a mill enclosure for their desktop mill or router that serves the primary purpose of keeping dust/chips inside the enclosure of course, but more importantly these added features:

    (i) noise reducing
    (ii) air filtered

Noise reduction is important since we dont like that the machine is loud (which it is) and annoy yourself or others, especially for people in apartments.

Air filtration is also important since dust is generated by cutting action and for a while may remain in the air and you can breath it in once you open the enclosure and becomes a health hazard (likely long term too for your lungs). Also if you are milling plastics or use cutting oil, apart from particulates you can breath in hazardous chemicals.

The point is both noise reduction and air filtration seems important. What is your solution to this?

Right now I have a mill enclosure comprised of a wooden box with windows and a door essentially. I want to upgrade it to be noise proof and also air filtrating so it keeps the room clean also. What is your solution?

Im thinking foam board and good corner sealing for all gaps and corners for noise reduction but I dont know how effective since I dont know where to get proper noise damping foam. You often require special geometries too and it then takes more space as well.

As for filtration, I dont know. Maybe drill a hole in the exisiting enclosure, then rig a commercial hepa filter type enclosure that I leave off while machining, and turn on for a few minutes prior to opening the door. The port will be on the top so normal heavy chips dont clog it up much.

    Whats your take and solutions?

Most enclosures do not cover the spindle, which is usually the biggest noise producer. I would look into vinyl or fiberglass panels. Double wall with air space or insulation would be ideal. You can always add extra insulating material to the outside as needed. Any windows will need to be double pane. Single pane just acts like a big drum and you won't get much noise reduction.

As far as filtering, I recommend some type of filtering system that can remove coolant droplets and let them drain back into the machine.

I built an enclosure for my small router that contains sound and dust. I found that filtering the dust through a HEPA filter was not sufficient to control some of the fumes created by machining plastic empregnated wood so I came up with a way to evacuate fumes from the enclosure out of my workshop. My router uses a small Kress spindle and my vacuum is a quiet Fein vacuum. My system is quiet enough that I can run it all night in an attached garage without bothering my family. (You can't hear it in the house!) Perhaps what I did may give you some ideas...

The details of the enclosure are described in my build thread but here are some of the relevant posts.

this post lists the general specifications for my enclosure:
