    4x8 cncroutparts.com design-- solo X drive or dual?

    I am new to the whole cnc thing and I wanted to make sure I made the right decision why do I want to have a dual x drive?

    It's usually to prevent gantry racking, and to avoid screw whipping if you have a really long X axis with a single leadscrew (the screw can get pretty heavy at those lenghts, too).

    Also, two motors will have more torque than one, and will usually make the X/Y axis easier to square.

    It prevents the gantry from racking back and forth when you have it driven from both sides instead of the middle (which could act as a pivot point).

    You won't be sorry with your decision....mine is a bit smaller with dual X drive and it works sweet.
