I was fortunate enough to come across a Morbidelli U46 cnc in the salvage yard as it was being dropped off. I traded it for a couple junk cars i had rusting out in the pasture and took it home. Everything is there and in good shape, except the controller. I have rebuilt the spindles and they are all ok. Next i'm rebuilding the drill bank which has a ton of drills in it( 41 I think). I want to eliminate the colombo spindle with the grooving saw head and replace it with a tool changer spindle. So when the gantry is complete it will have 2- 5 hp dedicated router spindles, a 10 hp tool changer and a 41 bit drill bank. I have all the ball screws and linear slides from the morbidelli, which are very large. What i need to know is if the servo motors on the cnc are digital or analog? It is a 1990 machine so i dont know, what do i look for on the motor? They are BM60M servos and im trying to figure out a controller system that will drive this machine. The controller also has to be able to handle all the relays for the drill head... or do i just toss the drill head and go with the 3 spindles. Any input would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
