I know that Fastenal has quite a few bits for around $7-$10 each, i know for sure they have endmill, and ball end. Many different sizes. Note, you'll probably have to order them in, the fastenal near me doesn't have anything in stock other than nuts and bolts, seriously annoying. Beware about shipping charges; they charged me $5 shipping to get 3 shaft locking collars that were $0.39 each when i was at the store; disgusting. When i get my endmills from them, i'm buying in bulk. All the other industrial supply stores near me also have endmills for $30 each

A friend pointed this out the other day....

    drillman1 | eBay

    I haven't tried any yet...but will...

Read what you buy first.....some are left hand spinning bits.

I've been using this place for end mills. Great quality, and price as well! And for me, since they're out in LOng Island, I get bits the NEXT DAY!

Kodiak Cutting Tools - Discount supplier of premium USA made cutting tools.

Their two flute aluminum bits are great! I think I paid $7-10 for 1/8" endmills, depending on cut length...

I have ordered some stuff from drillman1 (the guy linked to in microcarve's post), and I was quite pleased. He "combines shipping", so that if you order several items, pretty much as long as they will all fit in one priority mail box/envelope you only pay a single $5.95 shipping charge. Items arrive quickly and all of mine were exactly as described.

He has some V-Carving tools listed, and they seem cheap enough ($2 to $7.50 each), but I haven't ordered any yet. Here is a link: CARBIDE PLUS items - Get great deals on 4 DEGREE SCRIBE TOOL FOR JEWELRY ENGRAVING items on eBay Stores!

I ordered some v-carving tools from Carbide PCB Engraving Bit CNC Router Tool 60° 0.1mm x 5 | eBay But they haven't arrived yet (should come mid May). They might turn out to be great, they might turn out to be crap, but they are cheap, LOL. Long lead time due to shipping from China.

I have read that these are good bits: DrewTronics But I have not tried them yet. They are ~$5 each + S&H in lots of 10.

I am very new to CNC routing and I have spent more time reading and learning than doing. I ordered some PCB material off ebay, and hope to give PCB engraving a go in the next couple of weeks. I am sure I will break some bits in the learning process so I am going to wait to order the more expensive bits till I have a better grasp on what I actually need.

I've been using Ebay for 1/8" bits, and pay $3-$5 for them.

That worked Really well for me for a long time...way before there
was an Ebay and finding small bits wasn't so easy....

Here's a post I made about one way to make some as needed.

    My Newest Desktop machine

After a bit of practice, custom bits are pretty easy to make
as they're needed, and can work great...
